Cooler Master RR-910-HTX3-G1 CPU Cooler for 775/1156/AMD/AM2/AM3
I bought this because my Dual-Core AMD Athlon 64 X2, 3100 MHz (15.5 x 200) 6000+ (Brisbane) was running very, very hot. Under normal load it would hit 65C (150-175 Fahrenheit). The stock cooler kept the CPU from overheating, but barely.
Installation was tricky, but by no means impossible. I removed (unclipped) the fan from the fins, spread some heat paste on the cooler itself, as it isn’t perfectly smooth, and on the CPU too. The heat sink was NOT as uneven as the other reviews led me to believe, but a bit of paste to smooth it out could only help.
I installed the fan so that it blows through the fins and out the towards the back of the tower.
I am now running the PC under normal load and the temps of my cores have topped out at 42C and 44C respectively. This is a huge difference for less than $20 and 10 minutes of my time! Idle this thing stays around 93F (forgot to note the Celsius temp, sorry)
