Drobo Dashboard is the management software used to configure and monitor Drobo storage devices. It detects connected Drobos, displays drive health and capacity, and installs firmware updates.

Supported Hardware

These installers and firmware packages were designed for early Drobo systems, including:

Drobo Gen1 (USB / FireWire)
Drobo Gen2
DroboPro
Drobo connected to DroboShare

Later devices such as the Drobo FS, Drobo S, Drobo 5N, and Drobo Mini generally require newer Dashboard versions.

What Was DroboShare?

DroboShare was a network adapter that allowed a USB Drobo to be shared over Ethernet.

Typical architecture:

Computer → Ethernet → DroboShare → USB → Drobo

The device exposed storage over standard network protocols such as SMB and AFP.

Installation Notes

macOS

Older versions of Drobo Dashboard may require legacy versions of macOS. Some early releases depended on Adobe AIR, which may require compatibility mode or virtualization on modern systems.

Windows

Dashboard 1.x generally works on Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7. Later versions of Windows may require compatibility settings.

Data Safety Notice

Drobo devices use a proprietary storage system called BeyondRAID. Because of this, drives removed from a Drobo cannot normally be mounted directly in other systems.

If you still have a functioning Drobo, it is strongly recommended to copy important data off the device as soon as possible.

Troubleshooting Old Drobo Systems

If you are attempting to revive an older Drobo system:

Drobo not detected

Try installing an older Dashboard version such as 1.6.x or 1.8.x, which sometimes detects early hardware more reliably than later versions.

Firmware update required

Older Drobo units may require specific firmware versions before they will mount properly.

DroboShare not appearing on network

Check:

DHCP settings
network link lights
router firewall rules

DroboShare devices typically appear as a network share named: Drobo
