I’ve decided to replace Courier Imap with Dovecot Imap, due to some package issues in my distribution.
Replace Courier Imap with Dovecot Imap
I had a long relationship with Courier Imap, but the SSL version was broken, in Debian (Wheezy). Even with SSL disabled, my Mutt email client would still freak out about “tls packet unexpected length” and other unexpected SSL foo.
Sure, I could always compile it from source, because it’d just be a hassle to manually upgrade 1 package.
I was apprehensive about Dovecot, but it was as easy as apt-get install dovecot-imap and editing /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-mail.conf to add the proper maildir instead of mbox config.
I was up and running in less than 5 minutes WITH SSL!
